CALGARY, ALBERTA - International singing sensation and America’s Got Talent Season 20 winner Jessica Sanchez is set to lead a star-studded lineup of talent as Fiesta Filipino returns for a four-day festival at Eau Claire Plaza from September 4 to 7.
The powerhouse vocalist tops a roster of high-profile performers including Rochelle Pangilinan, Jason Zamora, Paul Salas, Shuvee Etrata, and energetic appearances by GMA Sparkle stars along with high-energy performances from G-Force dancers Myka and Jeric, and Jason Zamora of the Maneuvers.
“We really want people to experience just how much Fiesta Filipino has grown,” said Paolo Oliveros, co-organizer and one of the hosts of Fiesta Filipino 2026. “Our theme this year centres on excellence in our culture, because we want people to see Filipino culture not simply as something we preserve, but something that continues to evolve, inspire and contribute to Canada.”
A Cultural and Culinary Adventure
Built around the central theme of excellence in culture, this free, four-day celebration brings together music, dance, food, and community showcasing the growth and cultural impact of the Filipino diaspora in Alberta with over 280 local artists showcasing traditional folk dances and modern music, over 15 food vendors and food trucks, and more than 25 exhibitors.
“Food is going to be a huge part of the experience. Filipino food tells the story of our history, creativity and resourcefulness, so we want festivalgoers, not only Filipinos, to come hungry and really explore what our cuisine has to offer,” Oliveros said.
He adds that the major priority for this year is youth empowerment, highlighted by dedicated Friday programming designed to elevate the next generation of young Filipino-Canadian talent. "Fiesta Filipino has always celebrated established artists, but we also have a responsibility to create space for the artists and cultural leaders who will carry our community forward,” Oliveros said.
Practical Tips for Festivalgoers
Organizers are advising festivalgoers to come early, come comfortable and come hungry, check the Fiesta Filipino program ahead of time and plan around the performances you want to see but also leave some time to simply explore.
“Calgary weather can be unpredictable, so dress comfortably and in layers, wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared to spend several hours enjoying the festival,” Oliveros noted while also advising the public that public transit or alternative transportation is strongly recommended to bypass downtown parking congestion.
Families are also reminded to keep children close, establish a designated meeting spot, and locate volunteers or security if assistance is needed.
“Everyone is welcome. You don't have to be Filipino to celebrate with us. Come with your family and friends and experience four days of Filipino culture, food, talent and community at Fiesta Filipino 2026.”
The organizers said they want people to leave Fiesta Filipino with a greater appreciation of the Filipino community and the contributions Filipinos continue to make in Calgary, Alberta and Canada. “It's a celebration of where we've come from, but it's also about where we're going next,” Oliveros said.
